Construction Lawyers Society of America
For the past 26 years, Bill Thomas has been building a diverse law practice focused on the construction industry. He enjoys the challenge of fashioning solutions to the complex issues that construction professionals face, including up-front contract negotiation, risk assessment, loss prevention, dispute solutions, and working hard to achieve the best result if there is a claim or litigation.
About Attorney Bill Thomas
He represents architects, engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, and other construction professionals managing risk, resolving disputes and, if necessary, trying cases. He also represents owners, developers, contractors, and subcontractors dealing with their unique issues. Creativity, passion, and hard work are the hallmarks of his representation in the industry.
Last year, that hard work was recognized in a number of significant ways. For the past seven years, he has been named a Missouri “Super Lawyer” as a top construction attorney. He was also named as a top legal talent in construction law in the 2019-2020 editions of “Best Lawyers in America,” an exclusive peer-nominated and reviewed selection process. He will complete his training in March 2020 and will become a member of the American Arbitration Association’s construction mediators and arbitrators panel.
In September, he traveled to Colorado Springs to “raise the level” of his construction law practice, where he was inducted as a Fellow into the Construction Lawyers Society of America (CLSA). The CLSA is a selective, invitation-only international association of the world’s best construction lawyers. The composition of the CLSA is aggressively diverse. It recognizes deserving, experienced, and highly qualified lawyers across all practices related to the construction industry. Fellows are selected and invited into the Fellowship after being evaluated for effectiveness and accomplishment in construction law, along with ethical reputation. The number of full Fellowships has been kept at an exclusive limit by design, therefore allowing qualifications, diversity, and inclusion to align effectively.
So what’s the Construction Lawyers Society of America?
The purpose of the CLSA is to:
- Provide an outlet for scholarly authorship of legal articles on construction practice
- Provide additional sources for professional development
- Promote superior advocacy and ethical standards in the practice of law
- Assist in community involvement
- Advance a superior judiciary, and body of distinguished neutrals, by taking relevant positions on issues or legislation affecting judicial compensation and/or benefits, as well as those affecting the American litigation processes
Bill continues to appear as a frequent speaker on construction and defect-related topics and has authored a number of significant papers on construction law, including a chapter in the Missouri Bar’s Desk Book Series on Design Professional Liability.
