Gausnell, O’Keefe & Thomas is happy to announce the promotion of Najla Hasic from Associate to Partner. Najla has consistently demonstrated exceptional legal expertise, leadership, and a commitment to quality work. She goes above and beyond and being named partner is a testament to her work ethic and dedication to the firm.
Originally from Bosnia, Najla came to the United States with her family when she was a year old and they settled in St. Louis, Missouri.
Najla attended Webster University and majored in Legal Studies. Through Webster, she was able to study abroad in Vienna, Austria, where she focused her studies on abnormal psychology and human behavior. She graduated from Webster with departmental honors. During her time in undergrad, she worked as a Bosnian translator for a plaintiff’s firm in St. Louis. Afterwards, Najla moved to Carbondale, Illinois and attended Southern Illinois University School of Law where she graduated magna cum laude in May of 2020. During her time in law school, she was managing editor for the SIU Law Journal and interned for the Federal Public Defender’s office for the Southern District of Illinois.
Prior to joining Gausnell, O’Keefe & Thomas, Najla worked as a staff attorney with the Federal Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Najla currently serves as legal advisor and a mentor for Saint Louis Balkan American Connection, a non-profit organization focused on youth development and the advancement of education within the Balkan-American community.
She has been included in the 2024 and 2025 Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch List, has been recognized by Super Lawyers for two years, is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, Illinois Bar Association and Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers.
